University of Warwick Writing Centre Doubles Appointments for Students Writing in a Second Academic Language

Intellectual quality is not the same as native-speaker fluency. University of Warwick has expanded the writing centre so that students and working professionals worldwide who want a serious degree without leaving their country, their job, or their family can be coached on argument, structure and evidence without being treated as deficient.

Tutors do not ghostwrite. They ask questions, mark patterns, and send the student back to revise. Mamadou Ba, a STEM teacher in Saint-Louis, booked three sessions on literature-review structure and raised a grade by improving claims, not by borrowing someone else's sentences.

Workshops cover thesis statements, paragraph unity, citation, and the difference between professional English and empty formality. Recordings exist. Live groups are capped so that a student is not lost in a webinar of hundreds.
